Friendship for a lifetime!

Founded in 1872, the Alpha Phi women’s fraternity began as a haven for Syracuse University’s first female students. Our Ten Founders, a group of women who were denied admission into the men’s fraternities, created Alpha Phi with the vision of a greater sisterhood. The spirit of Alpha Phi lies within our community of women, of the shared dream and confidence to continue building upon a sacred organization of over fourteen decades.

Our Founders’ revolutionary ambitions and dreams hold true today through our guiding principles of sisterhood, innovation, generosity, and character. With 172 collegiate chapters based in the United States and Canada and extensive impressionable alumni, Alpha Phi members are more than committed to lifelong friendships, community involvement, and academic excellence. Alpha Phi is one of the first women’s fraternities to establish a foundation as a trust, awarding grants for scholarships and cardiac aid.
